HunterDouglas Opaque Duette shades are used to bring the home theater room
to total darkness. These shades are fully motorized and IR remote
controlled. All shades may be lowered simultaneously, or individual
shades can be raised or lowered with the remote. |

The blackout shades are installed on the window openings in addition to
the regular decorative shade treatments. The regular shades are "inside"
mounted, then the blackout shades are "outside mounted" and cover the woodwork
when they are lowered. In the open position, they are completely
concealed under the drapery treatments.
Edge leak around the shades is controlled by both drapery treatments and
the addition of woodwork to provide light blocking channels for the shades
to run in, depending on location. One doorway to the basement is
light blocked with a HunterDouglas Vertiglide shade, also in the Duette
Opaque fabric.
Light blocking is very much a cut and fit type installation. It is
necessary to plan and install the shades with as much planning as possible,
but only after visual inspection under "blackout" conditions is it possible
to find all of the sources of light leakage. |
